Coastal Cancer Center Hosts Look Good Feel Better Meeting

The struggle to make your way through a cancer diagnosis is a battle in itself – testing a patient’s true strength and inner faith. With treatment comes drastic change that can alter one’s physical appearance.

A group of 14 women put the complications of their illnesses aside for a fun-filled afternoon packed with makeovers at the Look Good, Feel Better meeting on Monday, August 5 at Coastal Cancer Center’s Myrtle Beach office.

The end goal: To bring beauty into an otherwise difficult time for women facing a life-changing illness.

Seven volunteers – in conjunction with Coastal Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society – helped the group of women understand how their hair and skin will change throughout the course of treatment. From demonstrations on wig styling, cutting and washing to make-up application, volunteers demonstrated how to integrate style into their everyday lives. Attendees even learned how to turn an ordinary T-shirt into a stylish hair accessory!

Kits with various beauty, skin and hair products were gifted to the group of 14 women, all of which were donated from local businesses in the Grand Strand. Coastal Cancer Center teams up with the American Cancer Society to help bring the Look Good Feel Better meetings to area women several times each year.

Coastal Cancer Center’s Conway office will host another Look Good Feel Better meeting on August 19.
