Coastal Cancer Center QOPI Certification Renewed until 2016

Coastal Cancer Center officials are proud to announce the re-accreditation of the practice’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program, an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ACSO) through 2016.

Coastal Cancer Center is one of three QOPI Certified practices in South Carolina and the only one in the coastal area.

Coastal Cancer Center was the first practice in the coastal area to earn recognition from the QOPI Certification Program in 2010. Coastal Cancer Center is the area’s largest practice dedicated to becoming the leader in cancer and blood disorder treatments.

“The QOPI certification is a national recognition of quality in cancer care and earned by only a small number of centers throughout the United States,” Dr. Lawrence Holt, Chairman of the Board of Coastal Cancer Center, said. “Coastal Cancer Center is proud of the great efforts to which our staff strives for excellence in patient care! Patients can be reassured of superior treatment from a nationally recognized center.”

The QOPI Certification Program (QCP) launched in January 2010, and more than 190 practices are currently certified. This certification for outpatient oncology practices is the first program of its kind for oncology in the United States.

QOPI is a voluntary, self-assessment and improvement program launched by ASCO in 2006 to help hematology-oncology and medical oncology practices assess the quality of care they provide to patients.
