Local Group Donates One-Of-A-Kind Quilts to Coastal Cancer Center Patients

A heartfelt donation recently made to Coastal Cancer Center is warming the hearts of its patients currently undergoing cancer treatment.

Comfort Quilters, an Horry County-based outreach group, delivered their most recent donation of hand-made quilts to Coastal Cancer Center during the last week of October.

“We took on the responsibility of Coastal Cancer Center in 2010 and have thus far provided, according to our records, 248 comfort quilts for your patients,” member Barbara Bogert said. “[We] hope to continue [donating] for a long time to come.”

Currently, the group consists of 12 women who construct the one-of-a-kind quilts on sewing machines in their home. The group is volunteer-based with members from First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach and additional area churches.

According to the group’s webpage, Comfort Quilters estimates it will have donated 1,000 quilts to people in need and new babies across the area by the end of 2013.

From the entire staff at Coastal Cancer Center – “Thank You” for your outpouring of generosity and for the dozens of colorful quilts that bring a smile to the faces of our patients. Your efforts are applauded and much appreciated!
