More than 400 Survivors and Family Members Celebrate Life at 10th Annual Cancer Survivors Day

Coastal Cancer Center physicians and staff celebrated the lives of local survivors at this year’s 10th Annual Cancer Survivors Day on June 2. More than 400 cancer survivors and their families were in attendance.

The celebratory event took place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Marina Inn at the Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach. This year’s theme, “Hop’n for Hope,” was a blast from the past – as survivors and their families donned poodle skirts, bobbie socks and leather jackets during the fun-filled afternoon.

Hosted by Carolina Cancer Foundation and Coastal Cancer Center, “Hop’n for Hope” celebrated life locally as part of the Annual National Cancer Survivors Day – the world’s largest cancer survivorship event. Thousands of similar events took place in communities across the United States, Canada and other participating countries.

Cancer survivor June Higgs’ pink wig and poodle skirt earned her the honor of “Best Dressed” at this year’s event. Survivors also enjoyed food, giveaways, boogying down to entertainment and education on survivorship.
